Sinhagad Fort
Dear everyone.
Last weekend I didn't travel far, because I was still exhausted from the weekend before. Instead I went out 3 nights in a row, which was great fun. ON sunday me, Micha and Steve went to Sinhagad Fort, which is ca. 1 h away from Pune. The three of us went on one scooter.... pretty cosy ;-). We had a lot of fun and were really glad that it didn't rain. Seems as if rainy season finally begins to stop......
I'll just post some pictures so that you can see how it was.

Us on the bikeToday was a great day at work. I went with one of the guys to our office that is situated in one of the slums. Soooo many people there. And all starring at me. Still have to get used to this sometimes. Than we went to see an old lady. She is 65 and her son has had Tuberculoses for 2 yrs. He is really sick and weak. He had to quit his job (driver) and now they barely have money (500-1000 rupies, which is ca. 10-20 Euro's!). She has been living in the US for some time and worked for several doctors there. Finally I could talk some English! She was very nice and did rarely complain, eventhough her life is far from being nice. After that I had a talk with Rheka (the girl from my work) about boyfriends, marriages and stuff. It was very intersting how different things are here! Basically, having a boyfriend means getting married. Your parents chose the husband and men are superior to women. No love-marriages. And don't forget about the kastes (Kasten). Still a big issue here. You can't get divorced just because you are no longer in love. There has to be a 'real' reason. She tries to avoid this and is not married yet (23 yrs old), while a lot of women her age are. She tries to convince her parents that she wants to choose her husband and marry him out of love. She is a great girl! I hope very much that she will succeed.
Tonight we'll go to a cafe. Next weekend we'll have some latino-american party.
I'll soon write more. kisses!

Very nice blog. Me and my sister are planning to visit the Fort from Pune on our scooter. Was wondering if the hill roads were safe to ride? Did you guys switch off the engine downhill on your way back? Thanks, Kusum
